ReplyDeleteThis movie was absolutely hilarious! It had just about anything you'd ever want from a romantic comedy with a twist to the ending. Its homage to Auntie Mame was beautifully done, and the laughter was so loud and strong that I'm sure we missed a few lines of dialogue. This safe-to-show-mom kind of film is a must own. It'd be great for a nice, delightful Sunday evening when you want to just laugh the night away. Highly recommended!
ReplyDeleteThis was a great film. At times we missed a few jokes because we were still laughing at the previous ones. This is definitely one I will show to my mom when the DVD comes out.

I WISH I had braved the University Parking situation to see this film. If anyone had looked at the webpage for Meliora Weekend, they would have believed that parking was NONEXISTENT for this film. At least 4 alumni dinners, a soccer game, dance, and a theatre production were ALL concurrent with the movie. I can't get a spot on the River Campus on a regular weeknight, and didn't dream that I'd be able to get close to the place on Meliora Weekend. Furthermore - the parking website mentioned shuttles running only until 11PM - implying the need to dash back to the pickup area the minute the film ended. Not a pleasant night to miss the last shuttle back to the Laser Lab - several miles away!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile I applaud the effort to include college-students in the ImageOut festivals, PLEASE verify the availability of parking -ESPECIALLY on the River Campus.
I have to say this was one of the funnier movies in the festival. The plot twisted a bit in an unexpected way, the characters all felt quite real, and the ending was quite cute.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I would love to see it again, if for nothing to hear some of the post-punch-line follow-ups, which I'm sure are just as witty as the main lines. The fact that we missed dialog from people laughing is a clear sign that this film was a winner. Definitely portrayed real family values in a touching way while keeping the comedy level set to high. :)

ReplyDeleteI didn't appreciate the mother until after the club scene when she finds out her son was sacrificing his life.
I feel she was put into a forced situation earlier where I couldn't appreciate her performance. When the situations "could" be more plausible (and I use that word loosely), the mother's performance was heart-melting.
