Just left this screening a bit ago and I have to say that it is surprisingly my current festival favorite. It was a really great film that touched on an important topic in an honest and thought-provoking way. When I bought the ticket, I honestly wasn't expecting much from this screening. So glad I was completely wrong.
I didn't expect much from this film either, I only went because my partner wanted to go. The write up and pictures in the program gave me the impression that this was just another lightweight, lesbian emotional drama (I'll admit I was also making some assumptions based on my experiences with these types of movies in the past). I found the movie to be anything but lightweight, the characters and situations felt exceptionally real, the film and editing quality was quite high, and the subject of DADT was treated with respect. This ended up being one of my favorite films in the festival. Thank you for including it!
From the ballots: Really well acted and a depressing story that turned out well. Glad Rochester was the first to see it. You go Jessica!
Michael's response: Just to clarify, this was "New York State's Premiere" so while the rest of New York has not seen it prior to our screening, it has screened in other festivals before.
