Sunshine Cleaning

Caught this little Independent movie over the weekend. It is not necessarily what I expected, but it was highly enjoyable nonetheless. From the same folks who brought us Little Miss Sunshine, Sunshine Cleaning tells the story of a family struggling to make their own way in the world. That sounds a little cliche, but I promise you this movie is anything but. An unusual set of characters and situations, combined with great performance from Amy Adams, Emily Blunt and Alan Arkin make this one of my favorites of the year so far. There is even a tiny gay sub-plot. Right now the only place in town to catch this little film is the Little theater, but who can pass up their great popcorn anyway?

I've seen plenty of reviews for this, and am hoping to catch it this weekend. I was not a fan of Little Miss Sunshine really, but I think that was more because of the actors involved than the plot or story line.

This is another one of those movies I saw in the European Film Market in Feb 2008 but only caught 40 minutes of it somewhere in the middle. I only had that much time between gay movies, LOL. I liked what I saw cuz I love both Emily Blunt and Amy Adams. Just wondering how it all began and how it all ended.

I really liked Little Miss Sunshine, even saw it twice back when it was in theaters plus I own the DVD. This was part of the reason I made a point of seeing Sunshine Cleaning, as well as the reviews I had read of the film.
I found "Cleaning" quite entertaining, sad, and very well acted by a terrific cast. Amy Adams has been busy lately, and she's a good actress. Looking forward to seeing her opposite Meryl Streep again this year in
"Julie and Julia", which promises to be another must-see movie.
