Program 22: FIT
The first of two screenings to be held at RIT's Ingle Auditorium this year, FIT couldn't be more timely. Tackling the difficult subjects of bullying and homophobia among teenagers, it's perfect viewing for National Coming Out Day.

Hmmm, no one wrote anything for this film yet. OK I will...
I'm glad I had a chance to see this one. I loved the way the drama teacher handled disputes. And did you see the way one of the bullies was able to become friends with a gay kid? Sweet...
I'm glad we got a lot of students to this one. And now I think I have a new line to use in case anyone ever asks me if I'm gay and they give me a weird/horrified look when I answer in the affirmative: I'll just say "But don't worry. I'm very open minded. I don't care if you're not!" lol that was great!
This was a "fit" (hot) film! While it was sometimes difficult to understand British teenager slang from time to time, and the over use of the word "innit," which made for several jokes after, this film was perfection.
I am a high school English teacher, so I would be proud to show portions of this film (the whole thing if I had more time) to my students by showing them how word choice can seriously affect others. I found Karmela's story the most compelling because she lived in fear. I love the quote, "My parents hate me, but the worst part is that they don't know that they hate me," which speaks to so many closeted youths out there.
What I am most annoyed with was the programming time. This film should have been highlighted more so that people would be encouraged to see it. Then the time restraint of having to go from the Ingle to the Little in about 20 minutes was nearly impossible, especially due to the rain. I love (love love love) ImageOut and all the hard work everyone does, but this was a minor dropping of the ball. I almost didn't see the film because of the time difference to get back to the Little, and I am SO glad I did see it.
This is a wonderful film to help see what today's youth STILL go through. I know that it is "a different world" out there, but the progress our society has mad would be comparable to a snail going up a sandpaper hill in March - slow, steady, and painful.

While I thought the loose ends wrapped up too conveniently, it is nice to think it is possible.
I really enjoyed the music too.

Excellent!!! Especially pertinent to today. Ending left a lot to be desired. Ended too abruptly. Needed a last lesson from the teacher.

Excellent! Should be shown more in the US. Thanks!

Can see why schools are using this movie -- so good, entertaining, and not too preachy.
