Program 9: Purple Sea
A programmers' favorite, Purple Sea is a sweeping and romantic love story whose gorgeous visuals demand to be seen on the big screen. The film is showing tonight at 6:459m at the Dryden Theatre.

Horrible -- I hate this kind of abuse towards women regardless of the outcome.
From the ballots:
A bit long. Sorda korny. Concept a stretch.
From the ballots:
Good but couldn't watch to end -- too violent.
From the ballots:
Need more substitles for deaf to read.
From the ballots:
big jump between the cellar and Angela becoming Angelo. Appreciated the older woman finally taking charge.

Great! I like having a foreign film in the line up.

But we always have a good selection of foreign films in our lineup, every single year. =)

Wow, made me realize and be thankful that my parents accept me, even if we are Roman Catholics.

Excellent but it was sad.
I wish it was in English though.
From the ballots:
I loved it!
So amazing!
From the ballots:
Very touching
From the ballots:
Needed editing and better subtitles. Stilted subtitles did not match actual Italian and Sicilian dialogue.
From the ballots:
Very depressing, like a flash back to last year's picks. Mike picked this??? That was dark, depressing, and I would no recommend it to anyone.
Cinematography was horrible -- hold the camera STEADY!
Michael's response:
Ahh, to each his own. As you can see, a lot of people actually loved this movie. And it also got a lot of EXCELLENT votes. So this was definitely well received just based on those who turned in their ballots at the end of the screening.
From the ballots:
Excellent! A little puzzling at times, but beautiful photography in a great setting.
