Glad I saw it! The trailer I watched for this film almost scared me away! In some ways it reminded me of the 1995 film "Sebastian."BOY, do those kids drink a lot!
Nice movie and realistic portrayal. I thought the main lead did a great job. And yes, we do drink a lot on the weekends in Iceland.
Really good movie. The acting was fantastic especially the lead actor. What they were going through was shown realistically and without melodrama. The kids seemed more responsible than the adults!
This is one of my favorite films so far.Near the beginning (but the beginning-beginning) when the boys kiss I swear I almost lost it. I am not quick to cry during films but there was something about that moment...Maybe it was because it reminded me of the time when I loved my best friend (when I was about the same age as that character) I can't help but wonder...had I stayed friends with him, would we have eventually kissed...Anyway, it's interesting how the boys kind of grow apart (and come back together at the end). But...it made me see how even in supposedly gay friendly countries like Iceland, the youth seem to have a problem with accepting being gay themselves. It's like, what I'm seeing, and I see this the world over it seems—is this notion among youth that "It'll be OK for me to be gay when I'm *older*, but it's not OK to be gay when you're still a teen." Or at least, that's what *I* seem to be hearing all the time. And I wonder why the youth think that. (though I have some thoughts)Anyway, wonderful film, and I hope to see it again.
