No...... really? I'm the first to comment for this program? Well um...OK....This was the first time this ImageOut that I checked a lot of "fair" boxes on the ballots. (Down from excellent and good) [Meaning?] Meaning...This was not one of my favorite programs but you know, that's alright. I can't always love everything...I do think this program should have been placed in the "out there" series because of the risky elements of some of the films. While perhaps a bit shocking, I loved how the sex shorts were done with humor. The last one, "Samaritanen" I think it was called, was the best in my opinion. It dealt with immigration which, as we now know, is a "universal theme". So, this program was not bad, it was just...different. I'm glad I saw them though because it helps to expand my horizons, which Michael always wants us to do :)
I agree with Stefan, this was a mixed bag, but that's one of the reasons I like shorts programs, even if they suck they are over fast. Regrets I think was the best in terms of well paced, awesome/freaky story, and good acting and directing.A Word, and Requited were the worst for me because they were, to me, unnecessarily rambling, and could be edited down. What made Fuckbuddies and Refuge work for me was their conciseness.I loved the sex in A Day in the Country, and the emotional roller coaster of e 3-eay depicted in that short. Quite good!Samaritan was provocative, a really great inclusion in this line up.
I loved Regrets and Requited, for totally different reasons. Regrets had a great feel to it, with an intense climax. Loved the story, even being a short as it was. :)Requited I found touching. I think most people of the past few generations have had this come up in their lives. I can see younger people not connecting with it though, as people are coming out younger and younger. Defiantly something that will vanish as our culture changes.
From the ballots:All the films in this program were incredible statements about gay relationships. Profound and moving. I like them a lot!
