This was a really good vampire film. We're talking Blade or Underworld level quality, and strong sci-fi roots. I love sci-fi, and was really looking forward to this when I saw the trailer.

Unfortunately, there was almost nill in the way of an LGBT theme in the movie. I could easily see this playing in a main stream theater, given how subtle the "lesbian" thread was overall.

As an action/vampire flick, it was really strong and well paced. The plot was good, the actresses (and actors) were all convincing, the effects were great, and the action scenes were pumped (though a little sparse at times).

If you enjoy action based vampire flicks, this is a movie you want to go see. If you'd like to see a real-world based sci-fi film with a couple of mildly sexually diverse characters, you're all set. But if you want to see something familiar that you can connect with as a LGBT person in a top-edge sci-fi setting? I'm afraid you're going to be a touch let down.

Overall, a really great film, and I enjoyed watching it. But I wouldn't call this LGBT themed any more than I'd call a gallon of water with a thimble full of red dye #7 and some sugar "fruit punch". In that regard the build-up and reality just didn't line up.

@Woody - WE ARE THE NIGHT is the story of a lesbian vampire looking for her eternal partner. But because there's not enough girl-on-girl action, some people will think of it as not queer enough.
